Dr. Amy Nguyen joined Northwest Eye Surgeons in 2026. At the Seattle clinic, she provides pre- and post-operative care and manages a range of ocular conditions, including retinal disease, glaucoma, and advanced dry eye.

A Seattle native, Dr. Nguyen earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Washington, where she conducted research on the transcriptomics of sensory neurons. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry from Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Optometry. During her optometric training, she served as president of the Gold Key Honor Society, was named Student of the Year, received the Kenneth Suarez Research Award, and presented research at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). She completed her residency at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System’s American Lake VA Medical Center.

Dr. Nguyen is passionate about teaching and mentoring future doctors, expanding access to eye care, and giving back to her community through volunteerism. Outside the clinic, she enjoys playing pickleball and board games and spending time with her husband and their rescue dog, Joy. An avid history enthusiast, she also loves traveling and exploring historical sites around the world.

“Vision is a gift that’s easy to take for granted until it changes. I’m grateful to help protect it, one patient at a time.”

Dr. Nguyen’s training spans a wide range of clinical settings, from VA hospitals and low vision rehabilitation to community health clinics serving uninsured and underinsured patients. During her residency and clinical rotations, she managed complex ocular disease — including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration — and provided low vision services such as bioptics and magnifiers. Her clinical research examined the effects of caffeine on visual processing, and she has presented her work at national meetings including ARVO and the American Academy of Optometry. She has also volunteered internationally through SVOSH, including a clinical trip to Morocco.
