Dr. Ameay Naravane is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. He specializes in medical and surgical management of glaucoma, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), routine and complex cataract surgery, and advanced anterior segment procedures, including intraocular lens exchange or repositioning, secondary intraocular lens implantation, and iris repair.
Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Dr. Naravane completed his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University, where he focused on Science, Technology, and International Affairs. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed his internship at Hennepin Healthcare. He then returned to the University of Minnesota for his ophthalmology residency, where he was elected Chief Resident.
Following residency, Dr. Naravane completed a fellowship in Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Segment Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis.
During his fellowship, he gained extensive experience in advanced glaucoma procedures (including trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage devices, and diode cyclophotocoagulation), MIGS techniques (such as goniotomy, GATT, Hydrus, iStent, and XEN Gel Stent), and complex anterior segment and cataract surgeries. He also served as an active surgical educator, supervising and instructing ophthalmology residents in the operating room as they performed cataract surgery.
Dr. Naravane is known for his compassionate, individualized approach to care. He partners with each patient to develop tailored treatment plans that integrate both time-tested methods and the latest innovations in ophthalmology. A committed educator, he takes the time to ensure his patients understand their diagnosis and options for care.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Naravane is an active contributor to the field of ophthalmology. He has authored more than fifteen peer-reviewed articles in leading medical journals such as Ophthalmology and Ophthalmology Glaucoma. His research and surgical techniques have been presented at national conferences.
Dr. Naravane is excited to call Washington home and is passionate about delivering exceptional eye care to the Seattle community. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and their dog, as well as playing tennis, hiking, skiing, and attending live music events.
