Paul E. Israelsen, MD, joined Northwest Eye Surgeons in 2020. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist and specializes in the treatment of standard and complex cataracts, pterygium, glaucoma, iris defects, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Israelsen was the first ophthalmology resident in the country to implant a trifocal intraocular lens, and is trained in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. He is also interested in global ophthalmology and ophthalmology resident education. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children, hiking, camping, mountain biking, and playing guitar.

Previous Experience
Dr. Israelsen has participated in research in various areas of ophthalmology, has published multiple journal articles, and has co-authored a cataract surgery editorial and a book chapter. As chief resident during his final year of residency, Dr. Israelsen assisted in the clinical and surgical training of other residents, and created an international ophthalmology rotation.
