Paul E. Israelsen, MD, joined Northwest Eye Surgeons in 2020. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery and the non-surgical management of medical retina conditions including diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Dr. Israelsen is a volunteer Clinical Instructor at the University of Washington where he mentors ophthalmology trainees as they learn cataract surgery. He is interested in local humanitarian outreach efforts involving eye care, as well as global ophthalmology. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children, hiking, camping, mountain biking, and playing guitar.

Previous Experience

Dr. Israelsen has participated in research in various areas of ophthalmology, has published multiple journal articles, presented at conferences, and co-authored a cataract surgery editorial and a book chapter. Dr. Israelsen has assisted in the clinical and surgical training of ophthalmology residents, and created an international ophthalmology rotation at UC Irvine.
