Michael R. Banitt, MD, MHA

Michael R. Banitt, MD, MHA, joined Northwest Eye Surgeons in 2019. His practice specializes in glaucoma and cataract surgeries and disease management. He completed fellowships in glaucoma at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL, and cornea and external disease at the University of Michigan. In addition, he has served as faculty at University of Washington, University of Miami and University of Michigan medical schools in ophthalmology.

He has published over 30 peer reviewed articles in the areas of cornea and glaucoma as well as given lectures at national and international meetings. He is also a peer reviewer for several academic and professional ophthalmology journals, including Cornea, Journal of Glaucoma, and American Journal of Ophthalmology. He also enjoys teaching cornea and glaucoma care internationally for Lifeline Express and SightLife organizations.

Previous Experience

Dr. Banitt has 15-years of ophthalmic clinical and surgical experience in a hospital setting. Most recently, Dr. Banitt was Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Associate Chief of Service for Ophthalmic Surgery, University of Washington Medical Center and practiced previously at Harborview Medical Center and Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Medical Center, in Seattle, WA.
