Dr. Cadera received his residency training in Family Medicine, General Surgery and Internal Medicine from the University of Western Ontario in London and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia gave Dr. Cadera a varied and thorough grounding in preparation for his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Cadera completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Indiana-Purdue University in Indianapolis.
In 1983, Dr. Cadera joined the faculty of the University of Western Ontario where he participated in numerous research projects focused on the cause and treatment of strabismus. Dr. Cadera has traveled extensively to third world countries with Project ORBIS, and pioneered the use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) as a non-invasive tool in the assessment of ocular motility disorders. He has been active in both teaching and research, and has published and lectured in many parts of the world.
Werner Cadera, MD joined Northwest Eye Surgeons in 1992. He is a specialist in pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, eyelid and cosmetic laser surgery, as well as, Botox.
Dr. Cadera is board certified both in the US and abroad as a Fellow with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has professional membership in the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the Washington Association of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Washington State Medical Association, and the King County Medical Society.
Dr. Cadera loves the Northwest and enjoys hiking, fishing and the theatre.
