A certified orthoptist is an allied health professional uniquely trained to evaluate and manage eye movement or visual abnormalities, under the direction of an ophthalmologist. The ophthalmologist may not examine the patient at every visit. Appropriate treatment regimens are commenced after examination, and may include glasses, exercises, patching therapy or prism therapy.
