Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is a LASIK/SMILE alternative for those over age 50. As we age, the lenses in our eyes become harder and less flexible – decreasing our ability to focus on things up close. This causes our need to use reading glasses to see up close. Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) replaces the natural less-flexible lens inside the eye with a new artificial intraocular lens (IOL) that can focus close and far. This can greatly reduce the need for reading glasses and/or distance glasses. There are a variety of lens options that can help correct vision, and we match the best technology for each person to help them achieve their best vision.
