Matthew S. Niemeyer, MD

Dr. Niemeyer received his undergraduate degree in Biology from La Sierra University. During these college years he particularly enjoyed botany and marine biology. He then completed his medical degree at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. After completing his internship at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center he returned to Loma Linda University to complete his ophthalmology residency.

Matthew Niemeyer, MD joined Northwest Eye Surgeons in 2007 as a comprehensive ophthalmic surgeon. Dr. Niemeyer is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has training and experience with many types of patients including cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and other retinal disorders, pterygiums, and oculoplastics. His practice is focused primarily on the treatment of cataract and glaucoma.

Dr. Niemeyer has been active in research and has presented multiple posters at international research symposiums. He has also won awards for movies submitted to the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, as well as the European Society of Cataract Surgery. Dr. Niemeyer’s continued research involves the anterior segment of the eye. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery as well as the Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

When Dr. Niemeyer is not spending time with his wife and children he enjoys building furniture, hiking, and sailing.
