Washington State Requirements for Continuing Education

Licensing application information can be found on the Washington State Department of Health’s website.

Credentialing Requirements Optometric Physicians must renew their licenses each year on or before their birthday. Fifty (50) hours of continuing education is due every two (2) years.

Online CE Resources for Optometric Physicians

Pacific University College of Optometry
The site offers a large selection of online courses in text-based and podcast formats. Wide range of topics and fast delivery of CE transcripts. Site updated regularly.

Indiana University College of Optometry
The site offers a variety of text-based courses.

Review of Optometry
The text-based courses are sponsored through the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and are COPE-approved for optometrists.

University of Houston College of Optometry
This site offers a wide variety of text-based courses.

Marshall B. Ketchum University: Southern California College of Optometry
COPE-approved text-based courses.

The Ohio State College of Optometry
This site has a small selection of online CE courses.

Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry
The site has a small selction of CE courses, COPE-approved. Must pay beforehand to access CE.

Southern College of Optometry
Limited number of courses offered with slides/video. Some courses are COPE-approved.

State University of New York College of Optometry
Offers one online infection control course, and the site states that more online courses are in development.

Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry
University hosts several conferences, and only has one online course currently.

University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry
Online video-based glucoma certification courses. This three part series can be completed for a glaucoma specialty certification; or ODs can complete sections to meet general CE requirements.
